Where are Kenteshop products made?

Kenteshop products are handmade by House of Stole in Ghana, West Africa.


When should I place my order?

Processing and shipping takes about 10 business days for domestic US orders, we advise that you place your order at least 10 business days before you need them. 

For customized stoles, we urge that orders are placed at least three weeks in advance of when the stoles will be used. For even larger orders of 50+ stoles, we advise that orders are placed at least a month or two in advance of when they’re needed.


Do your stole mockups match the handwoven product exactly?

A product woven by hand can never match a digital mockup exactly. Furthermore, due to monitor settings, monitor pixel definitions, limitations of desktop scanners, digital photography, and thread lot variations, we cannot guarantee that the color you see on your screen is an exact color of the product. We strive to make our colors as accurate as possible, but screen images are intended as a guide only and should not be regarded as absolutely correct. All colors are approximations of actual colors. For best results, view this page with your color depth set to 16-bit (thousands of colors) or higher. 


I need to cancel my order.

Please contact contact@houseofstole.com. We can only cancel orders that have not yet been processed.


I received my customized stole but I don’t want it anymore, can I return it?

Sorry, we do not offer returns/exchanges at the moment for customized stoles as customized stoles are non-resellable.


Does House of Stole pay for international shipping duties and taxes?

House of Stole is not responsible for duties and taxes collected at time of delivery.


What happens if I order something and it is out of stock or cannot be woven and delivered before the time I need it?

We will contact you and refund you the full price of the item and refund your card/PayPal account for the value of the item within 5-7 business days. 

 

I entered the wrong address, what do I do?

Email contact@houseofstole.com immediately.  In many cases we may be able to change the address for you if your order hasn't already been processed.   

 

There is a problem with my shipment, what do I do?

If your shipment is held up with your carrier, contact them directly as they may need specific direction on where to deliver your order. In some cases the carrier will need to update your address which may result in an upcharge. House of Stole is not responsible for paying this upcharge. To avoid the upcharge, ask the carrier to hold the shipment at the nearest location for you to pick up.

 

My order never arrived. Lost or stolen shipments.

House of Stole is not responsible for lost or stolen shipments. You will be responsible for filing a claim with the carrier (USPS). Once your claim has been filed, please contact us directly at contact@houseofstole.com with information regarding your situation and your claim number.



Is your site secure?

With advanced firewall and encryption technology, our secure servers protect your information throughout the ordering process. Most browsers will show a lock icon in the top status bar on secure pages. Look for this icon on any web page that asks for your personal information. To further ensure your security, we use state of the art SSL (secure sockets layer) encryption to protect your personal information from unauthorized use. View the privacy policy. We do not store credit card information on our site.

 

What type of payment methods do you accept?

Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Paypal.

 

What happens if I found product on your site for $0? 

Sorry this is an error.  Our system will not allow zero dollar orders and that product will be cancelled from your order.

 

Where are you guys located?

We are headquartered in Tema, Ghana, West Africa, although we have a limited presence in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

 

What is the cost of shipping?

Shipping generally depends on your address. All domestic US shipping is done through USPS, who automatically calculates the cost of shipping once your place your shipping address. 

For customized stoles, there is an international shipping fee of $25.99 for orders of fewer that five stoles -- shipping is free for orders of five or more stoles.

 

How many symbols can I choose for my customized stole?

There is no limit on the number of symbols you can choose. However, after adding five items (symbols or text) there’s a $2.95 charge per extra item added.

 

How much text can I have on my customized stole?

There is no limit on the amount of text you can have. However, we do not encourage having more than four lines of text on each side of the stole. There will be extra charges for amounts of text that exceed what we typically weave for clients.

 

My institution is tax exempt; will you apply taxes to our order?

We will not apply any additional taxes to your order. The total price quoted for the number of stoles you’re ordering (and any additional shipping costs) is all you will have to pay. This applies to all orders and not only orders from tax exempt institutions.

 

What symbols can I choose from? And what do they mean?

Though the symbols we typically weave are Adinkra symbols and Greek letters, we do not limit client’s to those only. We also weave other meaningful symbols such as keys, crowns, stools, justice scales and a couple of others too. You can learn more about the symbols we typically offer at: houseofstole.com/our-symbols.

 

If you’ve got a special symbol you’d like us to weave on your stole, you can send it to us at contact@houseofstole.com. If it’s a symbol we can weave, we’ll have a sample woven immediately for your approval. If it’s out of scope of what we can produce on kente loom, we’ll let you know immediately as well.

 

Is it possible to change symbols and colors after placing an order?

If your order hasn’t been processed and you let us know in time, you can definitely make changes. However if we’ve woven your stole(s) already, it’s unfortunately too late.

 

Is it possible to add or subtract after the initial order?

Yes you can add to an initial order; simply let us know how many more stoles you’ll need. 

 

You can also subtract from your order if we’re yet to weave the number of stoles you no longer need. However if we’ve woven those stoles already, it’ll be too late to subtract them from your order.



Do you do offer embroidery on the stoles?

Yes. Simply email us at contact@houseofstole.com with the details of the symbol, text or logo you would like to have embroidered onto your stole.



How soon can I expect my order?

Delivery times can vary widely based on the number of stoles in your order. Typically you can expect to receive your order a week and half to three weeks after ordering. For much larger orders of 150+ stoles, it may take a month and a week or two to have the stoles woven and delivered.
